Bigger & Better in '10
It is official. The 2009 AFL tipping competition, 'The Loud and Clear Shield', was the greatest on record. Not for the fact that we had more tippers than ever before (or that it was the first year of competition) but that after 22 rounds, not a single point could separate our joint winners! Yes that's right - even after a count-back of for-and-against points, both Chris Humphreys and 'Automated Tipping Machine' finished on top. When asked of their success last year and their strategies for the upcoming season, 'Automated Tipping Machine' didn't say much, but Chris Humphreys claimed that "the start of the new season is always tough as it usually takes a few weeks to get match fit, but we'll just take it week by week and hopefully get the points on the board."
This season has already seen some fascinating stories in the AFL arena... the 'Fev-olution' has hit Brisbane... can the Lions get back to the top of the food chain in '10? Or, will the Saints get over their disappointment of being rolled in the GF (and the offseason loss of former captain Luke Ball) to record their first flag since the First Fleet arrived? Will the Big, Bad, Barry Hall-led Bulldogs maul the competition this year and finally progress past the prelim final, considering they have basically played for 30 seasons without a tall forward? Or will it be the year of the Pie? - with some big offseason recruits, the Buckley-led Magpies will be looking to secure a premiership before the salary cap gets the better of them!! Who knows? Maybe you do...
